‘It’s not the mask that interests me but what lies behind it’

The Transpersonal

The transpersonal broadly means going beyond our limited selves which were developed by our thinking, beliefs, upbringing and social expectations. Our lives followed a pattern of what we should be rather than what we can be and created a separation from our true nature and essence. In the transpersonal, consciousness is seen as multi dimensional. As soulful beings we have gifts, strengths and inner wisdom ready to guide us through life’s challenges. To help us to heal we journey through personality (ego) and make the unconscious more conscious. Often the paradox is life’s difficulties and challenging moments are what bring about the catalyst to change. I see the transpersonal as developing a closer relationship to the true self.

I believe that within all of us is the golden seed waiting to grow and develop into something more genuine and authentic to our true selves. It is in our wounding where gold lays dormant waiting to imbue into our lives if we take a step back and reflect upon it with a different lens. It takes courage, support and faith to take that step into the unknown. As a counsellor and therapist, I take my role very seriously and will support and walk alongside you on the path that can often seems dark and lonely.

In the transpersonal there is a greater emphasis on the spiritual dimension of what it means to be human. You may feel that there is more to life than meets the eye and you would like to delve deeper into it. Do you believe in the power of connectedness and want to build deeper relationships or you may have a question about life that you are sitting with and want to explore? than the Transpersonal approach may be something of interest. Please get in touch and we can discuss further.

For many years I have been interested in blending the teachings of eastern philosophies such as Buddhism, Vedantic and ancient Greek Stoicism with modern day psychological concepts and ideas. I believe there is a lot to be learnt from the wise teachings of the East and I aim to blend and integrate this with my understanding of neuroscience, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, psychodynamic and humanistic therapy.
