Why therapy?

People choose to see a therapist for a number of reasons such as being stuck in life, a need to understand themselves and why they act a certain way in specific situations. I have worked with clients who wanted to explore recurring self limiting thoughts that act as blockages, that they feel are still impacting the way they currently live their lives and many more issues.

Every client is an individual and there is no systematic approach to working or book to guide us. As an Integrative trained therapist, I tailor each session to the client’s needs after a thorough free of charge assessment that can last up to one hour. I use intuition and knowledge to explore issues and find a holistic approach to help them to know themselves better.

The relationship to the client is where we begin our journey together. I believe that each of us has the ability to heal ourselves with some help and guidance and it is here that I feel therapy can help. Having someone gently navigate thoughts and emotions with you and bring a different perspective to situations can help to see things with more clarity. I aim for clients to be able to self regulate emotions and to be able to take back control of their lives.

Psychotherapy in many ways is about asking the right questions and waiting for the answers to appear. Together we explore, using many tools such as inner child work, dialogue, creativity such as sandtray, drawings and talking therapy to help you to understand where you are in life and how together we can work towards self healing. We will begin to create a dialogue and relationship with feelings and emotions and the difficult experiences that might be too much to sit with. The moments when we just let go and realise that we can survive them are the moments where we can begin to take back control of our lives. Patience and compassion for yourself are key to change and I will help you to develop these important traits.

Therapy is challenging, frustrating and often can seem difficult. This should not put you off from trying it. It might bring about many emotions in waves you might not have experienced before. As your therapist I will bring compassion, kindness, empathy, awareness and patience to each session to create the safe space to explore with me in confidence and safety.

I understand how difficult it can initially be to open up to a stranger and disclose personal details of our lives. Having a non-judgemental and compassionate listener sitting beside you will I believe make it more comfortable to open and share. The courage to open up is the first step to an awakening and understanding of oneself and walking that path to authenticity and freedom.
